Sept. 15 AP Poll: There's a new No. 1 in the AP Top 25
The Sept. 15 AP Top 25 produced a new No. 1 — the poll ranks six SEC teams in the top seven spots, with the Big Ten earning one of the top three.

The top 3
Texas weathered a minor injury to QB1 Quinn Ewers with strong play from backup QB Arch Manning for a 56-7 win over UTSA.
The Longhorns earned 1540 poll points, with 35 of the 63 first-place votes. Texas rose to No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for the first time in 16 years — the first team other than SEC foe Georgia to hold the top AP ranking so far this season.
Georgia, winners of two of the past three CFP National Championships, left the AP No. 1 spot for the first time this season after surviving 13-12 in SEC action at Kentucky. The Bulldogs earned 1518 poll points, with 23 first-place votes.
Ohio State held steady at No. 3 with 1461 poll points and five first-place votes in their bye week.
ACC takes 3 spots
The ACC took three spots, led by No. 8 Miami rising two spots on a 62-0 win over Ball State.
Also Ranked for the ACC are No. 19 Louisville, and No. 21 Clemson.
Boston College dropped out of the Top 25, following ACC departures by Georgia Tech, NC State, and Florida State in recent weeks.
B1G takes seven spots
B1G teams ranked include No. 3 Ohio State, No. 9 Oregon, No. 10 Penn State, No. 11 USC, No. 18 Michigan, and No. 22 Nebraska — at least six Big Ten teams factoring in the AP rankings each week so far this season.
Oregon held steady at No. 9 after pounding Oregon State 49-14 in Corvallis.
Big 12 takes four spots
The Big 12 dipped to four ranked teams this week — Utah steady at No. 12, followed by No. 13 Kansas State, No. 14 Oklahoma State, and No. 20 Iowa State.
Arizona dropped out of the Top 25, still earning 15 votes.
SEC takes nine spots
The SEC increased its grip to nine spots in this week’s rankings. Beyond No. 1 Texas, the SEC is also represented by No. 2 Georgia, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Missouri, No. 15 Oklahoma, No. 16 LSU, and No. 25 Texas A&M.
